Sandy West has died. She was the drummer of The Runaways, an all girl band from 70´s, when there even wasn´t so many girls in bands in general, let alone all female bands. She was too young to die, I think, being no more than 46 years old. More well known members of the band were Joan Jett and Lita Ford, who both succeeded as solo-artist after their Runaways career. I´ve never actually been a fan of Runaways, I mean I don´t even remember any other songs than Cherry Bomb from them, but I´ve always respected the work they did. They have probably been an example to many generations of girls, who have understood you don´t have to be male to play in a rock band. I think they were ahead of their time, since it´s not very common even nowadays that teenaged girls form a band. The times might be changing, though, and the girls will be more active in playing. and less active in running after rocker-boys, lol!

I've never heard of her, sadly. I'm not that partial to 70s music...actually, I'm not too sure what 70s music sounds like... She was only 46 years old? Wow, that's very young. Too young. I'm sorry. Rest in peace, Sandy West.

Like I said, I wasn´t an actual fan, but respected their work. The way my taste of music has developed, I might even become a fan, though. I still don´t listen to anything, but anything good. It seems there´s some good ones in every branch of music ... Even in the country music, lol! | |
